Q1. Are the current and voltage generators independent of Phase, frequency and amplitude?
A1. Yes. All the current generators and voltage generators are independent with respect to phase angle, frequency and amplitude.
Q2.How is the hardware protected against possible abnormal load conditions?
A2. All the current generators are protected against overload. All the voltage generators are protected against short circuit.
Q3.Is there any time limit for high current operation?
A3. Yes. Please refer our product catalogue
Q4. Is there any protection for the internal hardware if this time limit is crossed by mistake?
A4. There is over temperature protection for internal hardware and it will get activated.
Q5.Whether the instrument provides any indication to the user about overload / short circuit / temperature protection?
A5.Yes, each generator status is indicated on the panel by an individual status LED. The color of the LED provides the indication to the user about certain protection if it gets activated.
Q6. Is there any Audio status indication?
A6. Yes, in, MPWin Relay Test Software user can set audio indication on activation of Protection. In case of Front panel operated version the same can be set up in system setting.
Q7. Can the test system be used for checking 2winding differential relays?
A7. Yes. MP3000 relay test system can be supplied with 6 current generators. There are two groups of current generators. One group consists of three current generators with a common neutral. It is very easy to configure MP3000 in 6 current mode for testing 2 winding differential relays.
Q8. Can we use MP3000 series to test numerical/ static/ electromechanical relays?
A8. Yes. It can be used to test all types of relays mentioned above. If the burden of the relay under test is more than what MP3000 can supply an overload condition will occur.
Q9. What is compliance voltage of each current generator?
A9: The compliance voltage of each current generator will be > 12.5V Ac.
Q10: Can the current generators be connected in parallel?
A10. Yes the current generators can be connected in parallel. For example if we can parallel 2 generators to increase output range up to 3 x 60 A , or can parallel all six current generators, to make output range up to 1 x 120 A. If we are using model MP3000C/CH we can increase this range up to 180 A
Q11. Can we connect two voltage generators in series to increase the output range?
A11: No. To get higher voltage output, user can connect to L-L output instead of L-N output
Q12. A few relays in our system, typically earth fault relays are having low tap setting but high voltage is required to test the pickup current setting. Can MP3000 be used for checking such relays voltage output is required?
A12: If pick up of such relays cannot be checked by standard current generators, our MP3000 A/AH/A1/A1H has special High burden current generator output. It provides high compliance voltage/ power at lower currents up to 3 A.
Q13: Can the standard current generators be connected in series to increase the compliance voltage?
A13. Yes current generators can be connected in series under special conditions to increase the compliance voltage.
Q14. Can we use MP3000 in horizontal or vertical position while testing?
A14. Yes, MP3000 can be kept in horizontal position or vertical position while testing.
Q15. What do you mean by “Auto detect” binary inputs
A15. It means, the user need not select in the software whether the connected binary input is potential free or potential carrying. It is also not needed to select in the software whether the input is NO or NC or High-low or Low- High. The change over time is automatically detected.
Q16. Can we use MP3000 for End to end testing?
A16. Yes, MP3000 can be triggered with GPS pulse connected to binary input.
Q17. Can you supply external GPS?
A17. Yes we can supply external GPS.
Q18.Can MP3000 test kit be supplied with internal GPS?
A18. Yes MP3000 test kit can be supplied with internal GPS, it has to be specified at the time of order.
Q19. Can MP3000 series be used for testing Transducers/meters?
A19. Yes. Analog inputs can be specified before order. Please contact your local distributor. These inputs can be used to test transducers.
Q20. Can we use external keyboard or external mouse while operating MP3000A1/B1/A1H/B1H?
A20. Yes we can use PS2 Keyboard or PS2 mouse or USB key board or USB mouse. These can be bought from local market easily. If required to be supplied with MP3000, please contact your local distributor.
Q21. We are looking for Protection relay test set for field testing of IEC61850 IEDs and relays and want to check GOOSE trip as well as Hardwired trip signal, do you have some solution?
A21. MP3000 Relay Test system Type F/FH will serve your purpose.
