Q1. Can ME2000 be used for AC and DC relays?
A1. Yes. ME2000 Current and voltage Generators are both AC and DC. DC current is limited to 20A per generator.
Q2. Is the PC based software mandatory for ME2000?
A2. No. ME2000 is a portable Protection relay test set having built in software modules to test common types of relays without a need of a PC. If we want to test in more details, MEWIN Relay Test Software installed on PC can be used optionally.
Q3.Are the voltage and current generators independent of phase angle , frequency and amplitude?
A3. Yes the Current and voltage generators are independent and can be set independent with respect to above parameters.
Q4. Can we set Prefault and post fault time through Front panel Operation?
A4. Yes.
Q5.Are the generators protected against abnormal load conditions?
A5.Yes, the voltage and current generators are protected against short circuit and overload.
Q6.Can we connect current generators in parallel to increase the current generator range?
A6. Yes, we can connect the generators in parallel to increase the range up to 90 A AC
Q7. We want to generate 150 V AC is that possible?
A7. Yes if we use L-L output, we can generate up to 250V AC
Q8. Can we connect current generators in series to increase the power output?
A8. No, this will not increase the power output and is not recommended.
Q9. Can we use ME2000 to check Harmonic restraint setting?
A9. Yes. There is a separate test module for checking % harmonic restraint setting.
Q10. Do we need to select the type of binary input, e.g. NO, NC, High to low or low to high?
A10. No. The binary inputs of ME2000 are “Auto detect” type. The fault stops automatically after the binary input detects changeover of state. The selection of potential or potential free contact in the software is not necessary.
Q11. Can we test earth fault relays
A11. Yes. We can test Earth fault relays.
Q12. Can we use ME2000 to test Electro mechanical relays?
A12. Yes we can use ME2000 to test such relays.
Q13. Can we test High Burden Earth fault relays with ME2000
A13. If the burden is more than the capacity of the ME2000 we cannot test such relays. The maximum compliance voltage is 8.3 V AC. If load is bigger an overload will occur.
Q14. Can we test Differential relays in front panel mode?
A14. Yes there is a test module on front panel for testing Differential relays.
Q.15.Can we test the distance relays using front panel?
A15. Yes, using Zone verification test module, we can test the distance relay reach setting.
Q16.Can we test Rate of Change of Frequency ( ROCOF or df/dt)setting using front panel?
A16. Yes there is a separate test module for checking this feature of relays.
Q17. Can we test Rate of Change of Frequency ( ROCOV or dV/dt)setting using front panel?
A17. Yes there is a separate test module for checking this feature of relays
Q18. Can we check Auto Reclose?
A18. Yes, there is a test module for auto reclose on front panel.
Q19.Can we use ME2000 for end to end testing?
A19.Yes, ME2000 can be triggered externally by connecting GPS pulse output to binary input during End to End test.
Q20. Can we view the results on the display? Can the results be saved?
A 20: Yes results can be viewed on the display and can be saved in internal Flash Memory.
Q. 21 Can the results be printed?
A21. Results can be transferred to PC and it does not need special software to transfer the results. In the PC the results shall be saved in .txt format. They can be printed thereafter.
Q22. What about the maintenance of the kit.
A22. The kit is easy to maintain, upgrade and calibrate. The voltage and current generators are plug in cards. A faulty card can be replaced by a new card. If there is a service center in your area, it can help you in calibration. It is also easy to upgrade the firmware. No special software is required for upgrading the firmware.
Q23.Can we save the test setting and operate ME2000 through a PC?
A23. Test settings can be saved if ME2000 is operated using MEWIN Relay test software installed on a PC. Using MEWIN Relay test software, user can save settings, create a test report, can operate ME2000 in manual as well as Auto mode. MEWIN Relay test software can be used for site calibration too.
Q24. How about the user interface? Is it in English?
A24. ME2000 front panel keyboard, display, menu options all are in English. MEWIN Relay Test Software is also available in English.
